The Planting

I lay on the sand
and asked her to bury me.
Cover my limbs,
fill the space between
my breasts with small granules
of the earth in southern France.
I wanted to feel safely tucked away,
like a seedling doused in sun.
I was hoping to grow long and wide,
into a Sycamore shape,
clean and sprawling.
