
These posters feature roughly done sketches of blues legends, influenced by the rural beginnings of the genre.

The program guide featured biography pages for each artist intermixed with drawings and timeline information.

This business card acted as a pre-flyer and was distributed months ahead of time.

On the website an interactive timeline of blues history was present on every page.
Each year the Kalamazoo Valley Blues Associations holds a music festival in downtown Kalamazoo. In 2001 they asked The Design Center to promote their event and I worked with two other designers to create a visual system focused on the history of the blues.
The concept needed to work across a variety of mediums including posters, leaflets, mailers, napkins, beer labels, t-shirts, a website, and the program guide. A versatile two-color palate helped the various pieces feel unique while keeping printing costs low.
Rough sketches of blues legends were used as a unifying element. Where space permitted a timeline highlighted key historical events. Our goal was to not only promote the festival but educate its audience about the history of the genre.
